We spent a beautiful Valentine’s Day in Winter’s California. First stop, Preserve Public House for a Valentine’s Day lunch of a tasty grilled cheese sandwich with roasted tomato soup, French onion soup, and one of Preserve Public House’s beautiful cheese boards…the Preserve Platter – two cheeses, two cured meats, pickled vegetables, jalapeno jelly, and bread. Of course we all ordered our beverage of choice. Our friend Soraya ordered a wonderful concoction of Hibiscus, Hendrick’s Gin, and ginger while we ordered a craft brew from Altamont Brewing and Berryessa Brewing, and my daughter…a nice big glass of milk to go with her grilled cheese!
We love Preserve Public House for it’s great rustic atmosphere and friendly service, not to mention we caught the end of the AT&T Pro-Am on the big screen.
After lunch, it was a leisurely stroll to Turkovich Family Winery for a little bubbly and wine tasting. Grabbing a nice corner set of loveseats we settled in for great conversation and a few nice reds. Our pick of the day was Turkovich 2013 GSM. A nice blend of 29% Grenache 49% Syrah 22% Mourvèdre that sits nicely on the palate and was perfect for sipping by itself. See related post
Heading home one can not just simply pass by The Dock Store at Sudwerk Brewery. We stopped in for a game of foosball, a pint of Rye of the Lager – an imperial pale lager spiced with German heirloom rye, and a Big Dipl brewed with the coveted Galaxy Hops… this one’s a beauty!
Great day, beautiful weather! I love simple fun days like this!
