Twas a fun evening at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co Op’s Learning Center with Chef Dio and Jeanna & Ryan Graham of Track 7 Brewing. Welcome to Bites & Brews!
It’s the end of Summer and we are quickly approaching our Sacramento Farm to Fork Celebration. This class was a nice “kick-off” to the season…Tasty pairings of perfect bites to complement Track 7 craft brews. The menu line up consisted of blistered Padron peppers with sea salt and goat cheese, crispy salmon skin sushi rolls, chicken chorizo and potato empanadas, heirloom tomato and burrata pizza with smoked bacon, and jerk chicken wings.
Crispy salmon skin sushi rolls with avocado
paired nicely with Track 7’s Inveigle. Brewed with lemon zest and Sorachi Ace hops, the citrus character went nicely with the salmon and avocados.
Heirloom tomato and burrata pizza with smoked bacon. Wow! Got to love that Burrata cheese! This pizza was light, delicate and oh-so-tasty and went down nicely with Track 7’s Aikali Wit- a Belgian-style white wheat beer. Light in body with a hint of coriander, citrus, and spice. A super easy drinking beer that paired so nicely with the burrata, tomatoes and basil.
Chicken chorizo and potato empanadas paired with Track 7’s Daylight Amber. With it’s slightly up front bitterness and caramel and toast malt body this beer has character to go head to head with the chorizo and wonderful flaky crust of this empanada. Ryan suggested trying this beer with a steak or a burger as well.
These fabulous jerk chicken wings had a sauce to die for and was super tasty with Track 7’s Left Eye Right Eye! A favorite of ours, Left Eye Right Eye has intense hop flavors coming from a blend of five hop varieties, hints of grapefruit aroma lead you to a smooth finish.
A fabulous evening learning new recipes, tasting great beer, and meeting new fun people. Who could ask for more?
