On Earth Day, April 22nd, we created a casual yet elegant celebration… a SIP Certified Wine & Food Pairing party.  Our vision was to first to highlight SIP Certified wines, and second to showcase compostable and sustainable party tableware by Susty Party.

Our Earth Day Celebration reflected our values.  It is important to recognize our local farmers, and what better way to celebrate them than and Earth Day Wine Tasting.  We paired the SIP Certified wines with delicious food to temp the palate and harmonize with each wine.

The Wines:

Presqu’ile 2015 Sauvignon Blanc (Santa Maria Valley) $22: Paired with a Grapefruit & Avocado Salad. Hands down a favorite by our tasters!

Hillard Bruce 2013 Chardonnay (Santa Rita Hills) $35: Paired with Fresh Salmon, Creme Fraiche, Dill, & Chives.

Claiborne & Churchill Estate Dry Riesling (Edna Valley) $28: Paired with Savory & Spicey Salmon Cakes with Aioli.  All were delighted by this wine…I think we found a few new Claiborne & Churchill Dry Riesling fans!

McIntyre Vineyards 2014 Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands) $38:  Paired with a rustic Mushroom & Bacon Tart.

Ampelos Cellars 2012 Sta. Rita Hills “Gamma” Syrah $35:  Paired with Paso Robles Dry Rub Grilled Flank Steak with Gorgonzola Butter on local bread.

Niner Wine Estates 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon $40: Paired with the  Paso Robles Dry Rub Grilled Flank Steak with Gorgonzola Butter on local bread.  This wine was a crowd favorite!

Not only did we eat and drink for the greater good,  in addition to supporting SIP Certified we showcased “Olsen” the Barn Owl, and had the kids create natural bird feeders with cardboard TP rolls, organic peanut butter, and bird seed.  Hung on a hemp string, these bird treats surely delighted!

We hope our little party will evolved to be a premiere event of the season and continue to gain momentum in support of our beautiful earth.
