Last week I had the wonderful opportunity of lunching at Ella Dining Room & Bar with WineRoad Sonoma Co. It was a small intimate group of wine lovers who got to chat about their love of wine, adventures, people, and places.  Our generous WineRoad hosts were a wealth of information of WineRoad events, wineries, Vintners, and farms, but also in planning a WineRoad adventure.

Let the WineRoad adventure begin!

I have taken the past couple of days to study the WineRoad map and make Sipped in California’s WineRoad Summer plan. WineRoad.com has an app for planning your trip as well as a fun link to customize your own WineRoad adventure map.  How cool is that?

3 months, 4 WineRoad Adventures!

#1 – Russian River Valley:  With the quaint towns of Sebastopol, Forestville, and Santa Rosa, there is plenty to do, great places to eat, and lots of kid and dog-friendly wineries to visit!  We limit ourselves to three winery stops per visit… so we will have to plan our stops carefully.  As avid Bodega Bay and Dillon Beach visitors, we will stay the weekend at the house at Dillon Beach and make a day trip of the Russian River Valley.

#2 – Healdsburg:  For this WineRoad trip we will seek out kid and dog-friendly lodging and really soak in the charm of Healdsburg and definitely sit down for Happy Hour at Spoonbar!

#3 – Dry Creek Valley: There is a “must-visit” stop for me in Dry Creek Valley….Frick Winery to introduce my husband to their Cinsuat, a rare delicious Rhone variety that I fell in love with at our luncheon.   I also think we will be up to a nice picnic and wine tasting with our Santa Rosa family while here in Dry Creek Valley.  Perhaps  Dutcher Crossing or Preston Farm and Winery

#4 – Alexander Valley: I have been wanting to visit Virginia Dare Winery for quite some time, and I think my budding actress daughter will love Francis Ford Coppola Winery.  After that, we’ll see where our taste buds take us.

We are excited for Summer and our WineRoad Adventures!  You can be sure that we will find fun, kid and dog-friendly places, as well as wines we grown-ups will love.  Stay tuned for Sipped in California’s WineRoad Adventures!
