When March 13th arrived, it came with the announcement of the closure of schools, stores, restaurants, and basically everything we took for granted. How in the world was I going to manage as a home school teacher, runner of household, marketing manager, and allow myself time for blogging , and the most sacred….time for me while sheltering in place?

It took a few weeks, but after stocking our freezer, gathering cleaning supplies, and figuring out a school schedule, I think we have it dialed. The key?

Routine, Routine, Routine!

Our school routine begins at 9A with Google Classroom check-in and attendance.

  • 9:30A: Math facts and math lesson
  • 10:30A: Social Studies or Science Lessons
  • 11A: Benchmark – Reading, Grammar, Book Reports
  • 12-1P: Lunch & Play
  • 1P: Art Activity
  • 1:30P-2P: Review any work that needs to be completed

I also started following cleanmama.com. I learned how to spread out my cleaning into easy daily tasks instead of trying to do it all in one day. You might be saying, “no way!, clean everyday?” Well, let me tell you, it has changed my world! I now have a consistently clean house without taking all my time.

Our routine allows me my time for blogging, my yoga practice, and some fun outdoor away time together. Dinners are planned on Sundays making our evenings smooth and easy.

It took a global pandemic for me to find a routine that really works. Now what am I going to do when the world turns back on?
