What I learned from five minutes of meditation…it improved my well-being helped me recognize the emotions I am experiencing.

Fighting anxiety, not sleeping well, and letting stress get the best of me, I had to make some changes. My yoga practice was spotty, and I wasn’t carving out time for me. Last month I planned it out in my calendar allowing myself time to become me again. I practice yoga every day, I walk with my dogs each morning, and I began meditating. Just 10 minutes a day brings me clarity. I am working more efficiently and feeling more motivated to do the things I love.

I read Practical Meditation for Beginners by Bejamin W. Decker ($12 on Amazon) for starters, and I am a member of bechbody.com where they have everything from stretching to weight training. I use their yoga classes, meditations sessions, and strength training classes.

  • It has helped me recognize the emotions I am experiencing in the moment.
  • I try to set bad habits aside and sit with my feelings.
  • I investigate my emotions with curiosity and try not to judge myself for experiencing them.
  • Negative emotions can overwhelm me when I ruminate and become fully submerged in them. Intentionally separating myself from my emotions allows me to observe them more clearly.

I’m one month into this routine and I am going to plan each day with time for me. No time like the present to start living a beautiful life!
