Carmel-by-the-Sea has long been a favorite of ours. My husband and I got engaged here, took many a dog-friendly trips, and I lived here for a few years. I can’t Carmel out of my travel-bug mind!

We ventured on a family getaway for a 4 day weekend full of adventure. I found a charming cottage two doors to the beach, which I quickly put in my back pocket for future visits.

Everything from the Dutch door to the beautiful courtyard with built-in fire pit oozed with Carmel charm!

We began our adventure at Mission Ranch for the sunset, a cocktail, and a little tinkling piano in the background.

Ever the horse riding lover, my daughters wish was to take a trail ride at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center. We saddled up with our guide for a rainy ride through the picturesque Del Monte Forest.

The Equestrian Center currently houses about 90 horses at the stables, with roughly half being privately owned and half being part of the trail and lesson programs. They take great pride that many of the Pebble Beach horses are rescue horses like Peaches and Geraldene.

One day we happily wandered the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Saturday we tasted at Cowgirl Winery & Talbott Vineyards in Carmel Valley. In Monterey we sipped at Fieldwork Brewing and boarded the Tall Ship Lady Washington from Pirates of the Caribbean. Curiously close to Fieldwork Brewing is the delicious Parker-Lusseau baker who hosts the best almond croissant I have ever tasted!

Let us know what you love about visiting the Monterey Peninsula. We would love to share adventures!
